Arrival in Copenhagen

I am running into some issues here with this site... it is all in Danish and I don't know how to change it to English! So hopefully I am able to figure out how to post this.

Despite the snow in Boston, my flight took off smoothly on Saturday evening. It was filled with other DIS students, so I met a lot of kids before we even got to Copenhagen. Unfortunately I didn't manage to sleep much on the plane nor was the flight entertainment system working. British Air did, however, offer us not only a delicious meal consisting of chicken curie and banana cake, but also complimentary wine. Who knew? We touched down in Heathrow to stand in a security line for an hour before boarding another plane to Copenhagen. I had a window seat next to two Danes who had just come from India. They were very friendly and quite excited to be home. We landed around 10 AM and boarded coach busses that took us to our respective housing.

My roommate had already arrived. Despite me waking her from her nap, she was very excited to see me and so friendly. I think she is going to be a great roommate to have. After unpacking, I slept for the rest of the day until dinner. I live in the DIS housing, which looks much like a small dorm with three floors housing 27 DIS students. Our RA bought local take-out food and hosted a dinner in our dining area for all of us. We did introductions and got to know each other a bit. Everyone seems great and I'm very happy with my housing so far. In the future we have to do all of our own cooking, though, which seems a little daunting, even for me, someone who loves to cook!

The first night a bunch of DIS students ended up meeting at the South African Bar to watch the Patriots game... not exactly the most Danish activity, but it was fun to meet other students and the Pats won! Today consisted of the Opening Ceremonies, workshops, and picking up school books and my Danish phone. I also managed to spend a lot of time with an old classmate from Brookwood, which was great fun to catch up after all of these years. Tomorrow will be an even bigger day with lots of activities. Classes start on Thursday and I already have quite a bit of reading and homework assignments. I'm not sure study abroad courses are quite as easy as everyone makes them sound. I'm looking forward to learning some Danish Thursday morning, though!
